There are several conditions tied to Australia work visas for holidaymakers. In the case of the Australian subclass 417 visa, the Australian working holiday, the following conditions apply:
Work
-
you cannot work for any one employer for more than 6 months
-
if you applied for a WHV prior to 1 July 2006 you may work for up to 6 months with any one employer as all visas have been granted this right
-
if you are referred by any agency or labour supplier to a business, you can work for 6 months for that business. The same agency or labour supplier can refer you to another business where you can work for another 6 months
-
you cannot work for longer than 6 months in the same position, in the same location doing the same work
Study
-
you cannot study or train for more than 4 months (4 months is interpreted as 17 weeks of actual study excluding holidays)
-
if you applied for a working holiday visa before 1 July 2006, you are limited to 3 months of study
Failure to abide by these conditions may result in your visa being cancelled and you having to leave Australia. Breach of these conditions could affect your eligibility for other Australian visas.
