The aim of Australia's working holiday scheme is to provide the opportunity for young people between 18 and 30 years the chance to live and work in Australia for one year. The arrangement is reciprocal amongst the participating countries.

Eligibility for working holiday visa for Australia are based on a number of criteria including:
being between 18 and 30 years
having no dependent children
have not previously held an Australian working holiday visa
have $5000 (£2,200) to support yourself for the start of your working holiday and a return flight, or at least the funds to purchase one.
Applications for the visa must be made offshore; you cannot be in Australia and apply for this visa. The visa is electronic, negating the need for the passport holder to have a label placed in their passport. Although, the option of having a label placed in your passport is still available.
Applicants from the following countries are eligible for an Australian Working Holiday visa:

The initial working holiday visa that is granted is valid for one year (12 months). The visa entitles the holder to live and work throughout Australia in any capacity they choose. However, the primary purpose of the visa is holiday, so working for longer than 6 months with any one employer is not allowed.
Recently the working holiday visa program expanded offering the chance for a second visa. If you work in a seasonal job in a regional capacity for 3 months, you will be eligible to have an additional 1 year (12 months) added to your working holiday visa. The same restrictions apply to the second visa as the first.
