Electronic Travel Authority is the long form of ETA.
ETA visas allow travellers to electronically be granted entry to Australia as tourists. Unless you hold an Australian passport, you will be required to secure a visa of some sort to enter Australia.
ETA visas are the method that visitors to Australia from 32 ETA eligible countries use to legally enter Australia.

The visa grants the holder 12 months in which to enter and re-enter Australia as a tourist for no longer than 3 months on any one visit. Applications for ETA visas can be made directly through this site. Every traveller requires an ETA, including children travelling on a parent’s passport.
There are several conditions attached to the ETA, they include:
You must not work while in Australia
You cannot study for more than 3 months while in Australia; where this condition applies the holder may be required to pass a chest x-ray before the commencement of study
Please review all the electronic visa conditions for Australia prior to completing the ETA visa application.
